Ready or not, Wednesday, August 28 is the first day of school. It’s a new year to stay informed, get involved, and meet new people. Here are some things to know as we kick off the new school year.
- Bus routes have been posted on the District website.
- The annual back to school newsletter is also posted on the District website. It contains lots of information and links to each individual school, safety information, policies and procedures and so much more.
- Be sure to sign up and receive all the district email communications (this is different than individual school communications).
- Be part of the district read, The Gift of Failure: How the Best Parents Learn to Let Go So Their Children Can Succeed by Jessica Lahey. The book includes targeted advice for handling homework, report cards, social dynamics and sports. The author sets forth a plan to help parents learn to step back and embrace their children’s failures. Feel like discussing the book afterwards? A group will meet on Monday, October 28 at Algonquin Regional High School’s Library from 6:30-8:00 p.m.

- August 26: Freshmen orientation at Algonquin Regional High School, 12:30-2:30 pm.
- August 28: First day of school. (Kindergarten orientation day)
- September 2: Labor Day holiday – no school
- September 4: Northborough School Committee meeting at Melican Middle School library at 7 pm.
- September 5: Algonquin Regional High School underclassman photos
- September 10-11: Melican Middle School photo days
- September 10: Elementary school 5th grade band instrument night at Melican Middle School, 6 pm.
- September 10: Open House – Algonquin Regional High School, 6:30 pm.
- September 11: Zeh School PTO meeting, 6:30 pm.
- September 12: Melican Middle School students have a half day because it is Open House at 6 pm.
- September 16: Proctor School PTO meeting, 6:30 pm.
- September 17: Half Day for elementary schools due to Open House at 6:30 pm.
- September 18: Combined and Regional School Committee meetings starting at 6 pm at Algonquin Regional High School’s library.
- September 19: ARHS Senior parent college night in the auditorium at 6:30 pm.
- September 25: Financial Aid Night for ARHS senior parents in the library starting at 7 pm.
- September 27: ARHS Homecoming and also the mid term of first semester.
- September 30: Rosh Hashanah – no school
