The Northborough Garden Club has announced the following upcoming events:
- The Massachusetts Master Gardener Association is sponsoring a Home Horticulture Lecture Series, running from March 17 to May 19, 2020. There will be ten evening classes filled with fundamental gardening information. The sessions will be held at the Museum of American Bird Art at Mass Audubon, 963 Washington Street, Canton, MA. Topics covered include building good soil, basic landscape design, combating weeds and selecting appropriate perennials. No tests, no volunteering or homework—just good solid gardening information! More information can be found on the website.
- The warm temperatures of late have caused us all to think about two things: global warming and Spring! Global warming is too complex an issue to tackle here, but advancing Spring is not. Go out to our yard and take cuttings from your Forsythia or Quince shrubs. Place them in a vase containing warm water and place in good light. Change the water regularly, and you will watch the flower and leaf buds unfurl and come to life over the coming weeks!
- The Garden Club’s next monthly meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 4 at 6:30 pm at the Northborough Library, 34 Main Street. Join Master Flower Judge Andrea Little who will present, “Fun with Flowers-Basic Floral Design.” All are welcome to attend.
