If 2020 is the year of having more fun with friends and being more creative, then The Crafty Nest DIY located at 290 West Main Street is your destination. Public and private craft events for both kids and adults are led by owners Miranda Osterman and Lesley Woods and their staff.
There is no reason to be worried or nervous about your skill level.
“Everyone walks out with something,” said Woods. “Step by step directions and guidance are given so each craft is doable for all levels.”
What started as informal craft nights with friends, unexpectedly expanded into a business for Osterman and Woods. The Crafty Nest’s first location opened in Whitinsville followed by the Northborough studio opening in 2018.
The focus of the business is on hosting group craft events so there are no regular retail hours. There is, however, a small retail section in the store and the owners are open to making custom orders if contacted.
Private parties require a minimum of 10 people and up to three different crafts can be offered to guests. The portfolio of craft project options continues to grow, with 75% involving wood, including a 5 foot wooden sign, farmhouse clock, circular tray, blanket ladder, customized sign, or perpetual birthday sign.
All materials needed are provided, except for the snacks and beverages which guests can bring.
The Northborough studio can seat a maximum of 32 people so it is the perfect location for a Ladies Night Out, office team building, fundraiser or a Bachelorette party.
The owners are in the process of expanding programs for kids including birthday parties, summer and vacation camps, and workshops. There is an upcoming Kids Krafternoon being held on Friday, January 31 from 4-5:30 pm, which is a drop off event and for kids ages 6 and up. Going forward, this will be a regular event on the calendar.
