Following is the statement that was submitted by the candidate.
I’m Ceylan Rowe, running for State Representative in Northborough (precinct 2 and 4). I live in Northborough with my husband and two kids at Peaslee and Melican. I am a Commissioner for the MetroWest Commission on the Status of Women and a small business owner.
I’m running because I’ve been serving people for most of my life — from humanitarian work, to empowering women in business, to bringing communities together across faith and cultural lines. For me, service has always included standing up and speaking out. I am eager to bring this approach to the State House.
I have been endorsed by Senator Jamie Eldridge, Rep. Jack Lewis and Rep. Maria Robinson, whom I have worked with for years advocating for the rights of women and girls at the State House. I have also been endorsed by the MA Women’s Political Caucus, the Environmental League of MA, Progressive Mass, the Sunrise Movement Worcester, Grassroots Central Mass, and Run en Masse. Please check my website for the latest endorsements. I am finishing my MBA at Babson College and have a Political Science degree from Northeastern University.
I launched my campaign in November 2019 and have hosted Meet & Greets at our local coffee shops. I now continue those Meet & Greets every Wednesday evening via Zoom. To rsvp please email me at ceylan@roweforrep.com. I have met with parents eager for more funding for our kids’ schools, grandparents and grandchildren alike worried about the impact that climate change has on our planet, and local business owners concerned for their future. I have listened to the frustrations of our local officials regarding the decrease of regional transportation funds and the need for more state funding for mandates.
The 12th Worcester district deserves a full-time legislator. I commit to be accessible, available and transparent, and have signed the Act on Mass transparency pledge.
