This year, Assabet Valley Mastersingers is pleased to award two graduating seniors from Algonquin Regional High School with scholar awards totaling $2,500!
Julia Kardos is the first recipient of the Lucille Alma Flynn Music Scholar Award, made possible through the Greater Worcester Community Foundation, in the amount of $2,000. Julia exemplifies the spirit of Lucille Alma Flynn with her love of and commitment to music. Julia has demonstrated a commitment to excellence and leadership in choral ensembles throughout her high school career, and her experiences include performing with Assabet Valley Mastersingers, The Worcester Chorus and as a nine-year member of the Worcester Children’s Chorus. She will continue her musical education with a Minor in Music at Smith College, with a focus on vocal performance.
Preston Green is the recipient of the AVM Choral Scholar Award in the amount of $500. Preston has demonstrated leadership in choral ensembles throughout high school and played trumpet for several years in band. Preston was also a three-year member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society at ARHS. He intends to pursue a degree in English at UMass Amherst, with an interest in continuing his musical pursuits outside of class.
