Trinity Church of Northborough has had 2 yard signs displayed on their front lawn for most of the summer. (See images attached.) The week of August 10 Rev. Valeria Schmidt, Pastor of Trinity Church, discovered that they were gone. Other incidents where similar signs had been taken from private residences have been reported recently. A Trinity Church volunteer noticed that two “limited mobility” parking signs had also been taken from their parking lot. It is unknown whether the two instances are related.
In an effort to replace the “We Believe” yard sign Pastor Valeria posted a request on Facebook if there was an interest in the community to order a sign, since there was a minimum order of 10. The response was overwhelming and Trinity’s Christian Education director, Sherry Clark, took it from there. She ordered 50 signs for families and individuals from Northborough and surrounding towns and has since then had more requests for signs. Similar bulk orders are now happening in Berlin and other towns.
Pastor Valeria said, “In times like these it’s important to show the community that we care about all people, and that we are striving for an environment where everyone is safe and respected. We were disappointed to see the signs being taken from our lawn, but that will not stop us from spreading a message of love and justice to Northborough and beyond. If anyone has concerns about the message of the signs we are happy to have a conversation with them. But please contact us. Don’t just take away our signs.”
