The Northborough Board of Selectmen met via Zoom on Monday, Sept. 14.
Here are some highlights:
- The Town has enhanced the “Notify Me” link found on their website. In addition to town news and COVID information, residents are now able to sign up for notifications for all town board and committee meeting agendas and minutes. It was previously only a select few boards, but now you can be in the know of what is being discussed at all meetings including Council on Aging, Community Affairs, Board of Health, Conservation Committee, White Cliffs Committee, Fire Station Feasibility Study Committee and many more!
- Rebecca Meekins was hired as the new Assistant Town Administrator. She was previously in the same position in Grafton. Her first day is October 5.
- Northborough is waiting for state guidelines regarding the celebration of Halloween and trick-or-treating.
- Congratulations to Tougas Family Farm who was listed as #6 in USA Today’s recent Top 10 orchards in the country.
- During public comment, a few residents spoke about the proposed building of a new 150K square foot distribution facility at 0 Bartlett Street. This would abut Algonquin Regional High School and the Stirrup Brook trails. More information on their concerns and a petition they started can be found at savebartlett.org. This topic will be discussed at the Northborough Planning Board virtual meeting on Tuesday, September 15 at 5 pm.
- Town board and committee meetings are all still meeting virtually and residents are encouraged to participate in that format.
- Anyone interested in becoming a member of the newly formed Diversity & Inclusion Committee should submit a brief letter of interest and resume no later than Monday, October 5 to the Board of Selectmen, 63 Main Street, Northborough, MA 01532 or by email to dwackell@town.northborough.ma.
