The Northborough Library Children’s Department has announced it’s programming for the remainder of December. It’s full of virtual and socially distant in-person fun and will keep your toddlers and preschoolers entertained. The list includes story times and music programs. Online registration is required for most programs and masks are required for all in-person events. Zoom links will be shared after registration is confirmed. Please consult the library website for any updates or changes in programming or contact the Library directly at 508-393-5025 x4.
MONDAYS
- December 7: Young Scientists with STEM Beginnings, 10-11 am via Zoom. This is a 6-week virtual series for children ages 3-6 who will learn STEM concepts through hands-on activities, story time and simple experiments. This is an interactive class using Zoom and parents/caregivers are encouraged to help their child. Registration is required. Class size is limited to 12 children (siblings welcomed). A list of materials for families to prepare for each class will be provided weekly.
- December 14: Cookie Decorating. Register to get a kit to decorate cookies in the comfort of your home. Kit pick ups are Monday, 12/14 from 9 am-6:00 pm. Please sign up only once per child. Sponsored by Northboro Junior Woman’s Club and Main Street Pastries and More. (Other dates include 12/11 and 12/12.)
TUESDAYS
- December 8, 15, 22, 29: Preschool Explorers on Zoom, 10-10:30 am. A special Zoom designed for preschoolers ages 4-5 to explore a STEAM related concept through stories, songs, and an activity or demonstration.
- December 8, 15, 22, 29: Crafternoon Kits, 12-6 pm (or while supplies last). Drop by the library every Tuesday afternoon to pick up the materials for a fun, new art project. Videos will be posted on the Library’s YouTube channel and Facebook page for you to watch and craft a long.
- December 8, 22: PJ Storytime on Zoom, 6:15-6:45 pm. Get dressed in your pajama best and join Ms. Lindsay for a bedtime themed story time. Bring your favorite stuffed animal and enjoy cozy stories to end the night right. Best suited for children ages 2-6. Registration required.
- December 15: STEAM MegaBytes on Zoom, 4:30-5:30 pm. Children in grades K-5 will learn about different STEAM aspects with hands-on activities. Registration required; info on supplies pick up will be emailed.
WEDNESDAYS
- December 9, 16, 23, 30: Virtual Mother Goose on the Loose, 10-10:30 am, Facebook Live. An early literacy program for children ages 0-2 years. Story, songs, rhymes, bouncing and fingerplays. Musical instruments, puppets, and other props to further children’s early learning skills will be used. Streaming live on Facebook.
- December 16: Wrapped up Reads, 11 am-1 pm; 2-4 pm, outside of the Library. Stop by the side door outside of the Children’s room to pick up a book to borrow and unwrap at home. One book per child please! Bring your library card or photo ID to check out. Books will be due 1/6 with one renewal. Please wear masks and practice social distancing.
THURSDAYS
- December 10, 17: Music Mashup on Zoom, 10-10:30 am. Designed for children ages 2-5 and their whole family. Explore movement through music, use instruments and other manipulatives and enjoy a story or two together. Registration required.
- December 31: Virtual Noon Year’s Eve Party, 11:30 am -12 pm via Zoom. Ring in 2021 and share stories, make a spinning noisemaker, and watch the debut of the Library’s Winter Wish & Gratitude video. Then count down to noon to ring in the New Year. Families are welcome. Register to receive the Zoom meeting information. Craft materials can be picked up outside of the library starting on Tuesday, 12/29 at noon. Complete the form to be featured in the Winter Wish video.
FRIDAYS
- December 4, 11, 18: Virtual Toddler Time, 10-10:30 am. For children ages 2-3 years old with a favorite adult. Enjoy age- and developmentally appropriate stories, songs, movement activities and fingerplays as your child builds early literacy skills. Streaming live on Facebook.

- December 19: Winter Family Trivia, 2:30-3:30 pm via Zoom. Celebrate the winter solstice a bit early with an afternoon of trivia for families. Come as a team or on your own. Zoom and Kahoot will be used for the event. There will be a prize for first place. Families welcome!
