The Northborough Library Children’s Department has announced it’s programming for March 2021. It’s full of virtual and socially distant in-person fun and will keep your kids entertained. Online registration is required for most programs and masks are required for all in-person events. Zoom links will be shared after registration is confirmed. MONDAYS
- March 1, 8: “Young Scientists” with STEM Beginnings, 1-2 pm via Zoom. Join STEM Beginnings for a 6-week virtual series. Learn STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) concepts through hands-on activities, story time and simple experiments. This is an interactive class on Zoom and parents/caregivers are encouraged to help their child. Weekly registration required. Class size is limited to 12 children, ages 3-6 and siblings are welcome. A list of materials will be provided weekly.
TUESDAYS
- March 2, 9, 16, 23, 30: Preschool Explorers on Zoom, 10-10:30 am. Join for a special story time designed for preschoolers to explore a STEAM related concept through stories, songs and an activity or demonstration. Best suited for children ages 4-5, although siblings and adults are welcome to join the fun. Registration required.
- March 2, 9, 16, 23, 30: Crafternoon Kits, 12 pm (outside the Children’s Room side door). Drop by the library every Tuesday afternoon to pick up materials for a new art project. Virtual videos will be posted on the library’s YouTube channel and Facebook page each Tuesday for you to watch and craft along. Kits available for pick up from 12-6 pm on Tuesdays or while supplies last.
- March 2: Read Across America Kickoff Storytime, 3 pm on Facebook Live. Download one of our maps or pick up a copy from outside of the library during curbside pick up hours and read a book from each region to complete our challenge and earn a special bookmark and pencil. Miss Lindsay and Miss Carly will kick off this month of reading with a story time featuring The Scrambled States of America by Laurie Keller on Facebook Live.
- March 2, 16, 30: PJ Storytime on Zoom, 6:15-6:45 pm. Get dressed in your pajama best and join Ms. Lindsay for a bedtime themed story time. Bring your favorite stuffed animal and enjoy cozy stories to end the night right. Best suited for families with children ages 2-6. Registration required.
WEDNESDAYS
- March 3, 10, 17, 24, 31: Moother Goose on the Loose, 10-10:30 am on Zoom. This is an early literacy program for children ages birth-3 years old. Come join us for a story, songs, rhymes, bouncing and fingerplays. We will use musical instruments, puppets, and other props to futher children’s early learning skills. Registration required. THURSDAYS
- March 4, 11, 18, 25: Music Mashup, 10-10:30 am on Zoom. Designed for children ages 2-5 and their whole family. This program invites children to explore movement through music, use instruments, and other manipulatives and enjoy a story or two together. Open to all families. Registration required.
FRIDAYS
- March 5, 12, 19, 26: Toddler Time, 10-10:30 am on Zoom. For children ages 2-3 years old with a favorite adult. Developmentally-appropriate stories, songs, movement activities and fingerplay will build your child’s literacy skills. Registration required. - March 23: STEAM MegaBytes, 4:30-5:30 pm on Zoom. Explore STEAM subjects with Miss Lindsay. The program gives school-aged children a chance to learn about different STEAM aspects with hands-on activities. Program is designed for children in grades K-5. Information on supplies will be emailed upon registration.
