Award winning chorus moves to Northborough and it’s looking for singers

Do you love to sing? Women of Note (WON) is a chapter of Harmony, Incorporated, an international
organization of female a cappella singers specializing in the barbershop harmony style. Women of Note
Chorus has moved to Northborough and is looking for singers.

The chorus consists of women representing a wide range of musical backgrounds, from novice to trained
professionals, and ages range from 13 to 84.

“We are looking for women who love to sing and enjoy making great music.” says Ashley Lang,
president and 10-year member of the chorus. “You don’t have to have a professional musical background to join, just a passion for learning.”

Women of Note rehearses all year long, taking breaks only for holidays. Rehearsals are held Monday nights at
the Baptist Convention of New England at 87 Lincoln Street in Northborough starting at 7:00 p.m. Guests can attend any open rehearsal on Monday nights.

In May 2017, WON placed third in Harmony Incorporated’s Area Convention, competing with
contestants across New England, New Jersey, and Quebec, Canada.

Originally chartered in Hudson in 1990, the chorus performs for the community, at fundraisers and at an annual concert. They deliver singing Valentines and attend regional and international contests/conventions. Their performances appeal to audiences and members of all ages.

Women of Note’s parent organization, Harmony, Inc., is an international, non-profit organization whose
purpose is to empower all women through education, friendship, and a cappella singing in the barbershop
style.  Since 1959, the organization has expanded to include more than 60 chapters in the United States
and Canada, from California to Newfoundland, and from Manitoba to Florida.
