Calling all Viking fans! No, not the football team, the Scandinavian seafaring pirates and traders who raided and settled in many parts of northwestern Europe in the 8th–11th centuries. The Sagas of Icelanders are enduring and entertaining stories from Viking-age Iceland and are filled with love and romance, battles and feuds, comedy and tragedy. Yet these tales are little read today.
Please join the Northborough Historical Society on Friday, December 3 at 7:30 p.m. for a free presentation by Dr. William R. Short, an internationally renowned author, filmmaker, and independent scholar. You will be fascinated by his talk of enduring tales and historical facts of the Viking people: a culture of combat, weaponry and feared warriors in Medieval times.
The Northborough Historical Society prides itself on their intriguing and informational presentations. Come learn about the Vikings and hear their stories first hand from Dr. Short. This is one not to be missed!
The event is free but the Historical Society is self-funded and your donations are appreciated! If you’re interested in becoming a member, the cost is $20 and you can review all the benefits on the website.
