The annual Town Meeting will be held on Monday, April 25 from 6-10 p.m. at Algonquin Regional High School. The past two years, Town Meeting has been held outdoors due to COVID-19; a more normal town meeting is being planned providing there are no COVID issues at the time.
A town warrant is prepared and shared with residents in advance, which includes articles requiring votes and sets up the format of the town meeting. Typical votes include town and school budgets, zoning bylaws, and Department of Public Works expenditures for road repairs and equipment.
The more residents who participate in the town meeting process, the more resident opinions are represented in the discussion and outcomes.
Typically, town meeting is completed in one night, but if not finished by the designated time, it has the potential to continue to a second night.
Archives of previous town meeting warrants can be viewed.
