Keep recycling your textiles using the school bins

Recycling your textiles using the Bay State Textiles collection bins permanently placed at all the Northborough and Southborough public schools is working. Not only is it saving the environment, but it is also raising funds for the school parent teacher organizations (PTOs). The individual school PTOs in Northborough and the Southborough Organization for Schools (SOS) benefit from the donations and receive monthly donations based on the weight of collections.

  • Since the inception of the program in June 2015, over 750,000 lbs. of textiles have been recycled.
  • The top three schools for collection in August 2022: Melican Middle School, Proctor Elementary School and Zeh Elemenary School.
  • Total of textile pounds collected in August 2022: 11, 780 lbs., which results in a total of $589 donated back to the PTOs.

Items must be clean and dry and placed in plastic bags. If the bins are full, please do not leave bags outside of the bin. Items are reused, repurposed and recycled. Please do not leaved other items, which are not recyclable through this program, on the ground near the bin.
