Learn to organize family memorabilia at upcoming library program

The Northborough Library (34 Main Street) is presenting The Basics of Archival Storage on Wednesdays, Oct. 26 through Nov. 16,  7 – 8 p.m. in the library’s meeting room.

Aging baby boomers and millennials, whose parents have recently passed, are often overwhelmed by what to do with old photographs, memorabilia, important papers, books, wedding gowns, military medals and the wealth of items we keep which tell the stories of our lives.

Is this you?  If so, let archivist Rhonda Chadwick get you started in sorting through and organizing your family memorabilia. This fun and interactive workshop will present the basics of archival principles, and how to create a legacy with pictures, documents and artifacts. The discussion is rooted in the idea that our lives matter and that we are all someone’s ancestor.  Attendees will learn where to begin, the best location within their home to store documents, and will get tips on organizing materials.

The workshop is the first of four planned workshops:  The Basics of Archival Storage, Digital Preservation, Organizing your Materials and Storytelling. Participants are not required to attend the whole series, but can pick and choose individual workshops.
