How you can help Turkiye and Syria earthquake survivors

We have all seen and heard the news about the catastrophic earthquakes in Turkiye and Syria, which devastated parts of those countries last week. Relief efforts are being organized locally.

Northborough residents Ceylan Rowe and Selvi Oyola have direct ties to the countries and are working with other volunteers from the Boston Turkish Consulate to collect needed items. The items will be flown over courtesy of Turkish Airlines.

Donations will be collected through Friday, February 17. Collection bins are at Northborough Library (34 Main Street) and all Northborough and Southborough schools. Items most needed are:

  • Blankets
  • Tents
  • Sleeping bags
  • Pocket warmers
  • Diapers (any size)
  • Powdered baby formulas
  • Dry baby food items
  • Baby bottles
  • Flashlights (not including the batteries)
  • Hygiene products

If you would like to make a monetary donation instead, you may want to consider the following two reputable funds:

Your support and care during this difficult time is much appreciated.
