Dear Fellow Northboroughians,
What a great little town we live in, don’t we? I remember moving to Northborough in 2004 with my husband and toddler son, and wondering if I was going to miss the easy access that living closer to the city had given me. Or the easy access to the big box shopping mecca that was my previous home. But what I have discovered in twelve plus years of living here and being involved with community, is that Northborough offers me SO much more access than I ever could have believed.
I have access to groups, and organizations, and businesses and activities and events that meet nearly every need I could imagine. I have made countless friends. I have watched my kids march down the middle of the street during Baseball Opening Day or the Applefest parade. I have seen fresh coffee being roasted at a historic mill. I have shopped to my hearts content—for everything from furniture to appliances to fine jewelry to prime rib. I have eaten some of the most delicious meals of my life. I have listened to music at the 135 fields and danced at the Applefest Gala under the stars. I have picked berries, and ridden on haunted hayrides and practiced yoga. I have had my car fixed, my back fixed, my hair fixed and my eyes fixed. And, most importantly, I have watched my family grow roots.
It was the culmination of all of these experiences that inspired the creation of the Northborough Guide. I hope you will use this resource to help you make the most of your time here—whether you are a newcomer or a lifer. It seems to me that there are still so many things to uncover: Businesses to be discovered. Events to be experienced. Wisdom to harness. Announcements or Special Offers that might otherwise be missed.
We’ll be sharing information in a variety of ways. I hope you’ll consider plugging in to all of them — as you can expect to find something different each day, and in each place. p.s. Fun fact: Did you know that each dollar you spend at independent businesses returns 3 times more money to your local economy than one spent at a chain, and almost 50 times more than buying from an online mega-retailer? (Source: https://www.amiba.net/resources/localhero/)
