The Northborough Historical Society will present its monthly program Friday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m. “The Cuban Missile Crisis: 13 Days at the Brink of Nuclear Warfare” will be presented by Mark Bashour.

The program will be a day-to-day account of the Cuban Missile Crisis of October 1962. One major topic will be the discussion and analysis of President Kennedy and his advisors in response to offensive missiles being placed in Cuba by the Soviet Union. The decisions of President Kennedy and the subsequent actions of both the U.S. and the Soviet Union will also be discussed with a major emphasis on just how close the United States and the Soviet Union came to a nuclear confrontation that could have annihilated both countries and destroyed the Northern Hemisphere.

Mark Bashour has been a history and government professor at Quinsigamond Community College for many years, and this will be the fourth talk that he has given at the Northborough Historical Society.

This program is free and open to the public. All are welcome. Programs are held at the Historical Society Building, 52 Main St. (corner of Main and School streets), Northborough. Visit http://northboroughhistoricalsociety.org/ or call 508-393-6298 for more information.
