Another success story from a Northboro Chiropractic Center patient!
Since Jake was born 2.5 years ago, he has struggled with eating. Something that was supposed to be soothing as an infant and fun as a toddler has always been unpleasant for him. He had a tongue and lip tie corrected at 1 month old and still had great difficulty nursing and taking a bottle post correction. At his 1 year visit with his pediatrician Jake still had no interest in exploring solid foods so we met with the feeding clinic who then referred us to early intervention. Jake has been working with EI since right after he turned 1. He has definitely made progress with the help of his OT, nutritionist and feeding group but meal time can still be a struggle for him and not as enjoyable as is should be.
As a mom I kept wondering if I was missing something. I brought him back to see a different dentist in January to see if his tongue tie was never fully released. That dentist evaluated Jake and reported that his tongue tie was “borderline” but that he did not think an additional laser procedure was necessary. Instead he recommended that Jake see a chiropractor. Off Dr. Karen’s we went.
Jake is often resistant to trying new things and is uncomfortable in any medical setting, so I was concerned that he wasn’t going to let Dr. Karen near him. My concerns were immediately put to rest upon entering the office. We were greeted with the friendliest faces and a playroom with one of the coolest sensory boards Jake has ever seen. Dr. Karen is able to adjust Jake while he sits on my lap in the play room so he feels at ease. She knows just how to approach him, and he has grown to love her. He gets excited for his adjustments twice a week. About a month into our visits with Dr. Karen I noticed a big change in Jake’s eating. Meal time has gone from taking over an hour to being just 20-30 minutes long. Jake can chew and maneuver the food in his mouth now. We’re able to spend more time playing and less time eating. We are so grateful for Dr. Karen and all of the staff at Northboro Chiropractic Center.
