Assabet Valley Mastersingers (AVM) is thrilled to announce the final concert of their beautiful 46th season, featuring Johannes Brahms’ masterpiece, “A German Requiem.” This unforgettable performance is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 11th at 7:30pm at Algonquin Regional High School.
With a commitment to musical excellence, AVM is poised to deliver a performance of Brahms’ “A German Requiem” that will leave audiences awe-inspired. This monumental work (composed by Brahms between 1865 and 1868) is, without doubt, one of the best loved and most popular of all choral works, perhaps challenged only by the familiarity of Handel’s Messiah. AVM will perform a contemporary edition and English translation by Lara Hoggard.
Under the faithful artistic direction of Dr. Robert Eaton, AVM has been meticulously preparing for this performance, interpreting Brahms’ rich tapestry of melodies and harmonies with the utmost sensitivity. Joined by talented Boston-based soloists Kristen Watson (soprano) and Andrew Padgett (baritone), the Assabet Valley Mastersingers will transport audiences on a journey through the depths of human experience, exploring themes of love, loss, and redemption.
Tickets for the Assabet Valley Mastersingers’ performance of “A German Requiem” are available for purchase online at www.avmsingers.org or at the door on the day of the event ($25 adults, $20 seniors/students). Don’t miss this opportunity to witness a breathtaking performance by one of the region’s premier choral ensembles.
