The Northborough Cultural Council announced that their public art showcase, Go Out Doors-Northborough will be unveiled in an open-air exhibit on Sunday, April 10 at noon at Ellsworth-McAfee Park. (This is a new date rescheduled due to expected rain on Saturday, April 9).

What happens if you open the door and step outside? What happens if the opportunity to re-engage presents itself? What might we discover if we find ourselves on a path through the park or commons – away from the roads we travel daily? What happens if we leave our electronics behind and find that, steps from our front door, a sensory world
awaits?

Go Out Doors – Northborough asks, how can we, as supporters of the arts, draw more people outside to reconnect with nature and our town public spaces? The mission of Go Out Doors – Northborough is to inspire discovery and exploration of public spaces while finding the intersection of place, community, spirit, and nature.

Inspired by the En Plein Air exhibition on NYC’s High Line and expanding upon the The Umbrella Arts Center’s installation for the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail, this exhibition encourages a reconnection to nature for residents emerging from COVID-19.

The exhibition features doors painted by area artists and shares their unique vision for wellness and the outdoors, all while highlighting Northborough’s unique sense of self and place.

These gorgeously decorated, recycled doors became surprising waypoints of delight while walking our trails. Some emphasize local wildlife and environmental themes; others are fun and whimsical, stressing spirituality, companionship, and the uniqueness of our town.

This program is Sponsored by the Northborough Cultural Council and part of the LOVE NORTHBOROUGH Public Art Campaign. It will run from April through May 2022 at Ellsworth McAfee Park in Northborough.
