Tower Hill Botanic Garden is teaming up with the Highland Street Foundation for their annual Free Fun Fridays initiative. The statewide program – which Tower Hill will host on Friday, July 28, from 10am-7pm (last admission at 6pm) – offers visitors no cost admission to many of the most treasured cultural institutions in Massachusetts. Since 2009, Free Fun Fridays have drawn more than half a million visitors to venues throughout the Bay State.
This year, Tower Hill, set on 132 acres of formal gardens and nature trails, is proud to be among the 80+ participating organizations. There will be something for the whole family at Tower Hill, including scavenger hunts, blooming flowers, the wildlife pond, easy hikes, children’s crafts, and more.

Follow clues in the gardens to gather passport stamps. Please collect scavenger hunt sheets at the information desk.

Enjoy coloring pages and a flower-themed craft.
THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT FREE FUN FRIDAY AT TOWER HILL
- Free Fun Friday is one of the busiest days of the year at Tower Hill. Expect to share the grounds with hundreds of other visitors. The wait to get into Tower Hill may be significantly longer than usual, as parking is limited. Please plan accordingly.
- Tower Hill’s interior spaces are accessible on foot and by wheelchair, as are the main gardens at the center of the property. Sturdy footwear is encouraged when strolling through the outdoor gardens, paths, and trails.
- Young children should be accompanied by an adult at all times during their visit. Children should know the full names of the adults they are with – and that Tower Hill staff and volunteers in bright yellow shirts can help if they are lost.
- Visit the Garden Shop offering a carefully selected array of gifts. Please note that Twigs Café will be selling only picnic-style food from 11am–4pm. No sit-down service is available on Free Fun Friday.
- Plan to spend between two and four hours exploring everything Tower Hill has to offer, including gardens, activities, trails, a scavenger hunt, Library, the Garden Shop, video presentation in the theater, art exhibits and more.
- Please be sure to respect the plants at Tower Hill by remaining on the paths (stepping in garden beds harms their root systems) and by refraining from picking flowers, foliage, etc. To make your visit safe and enjoyable, we draw your attention to our Garden Etiquette Guidelines.
- We strongly discourage organizational groups from visiting on Free Fun Friday. We offer group visits throughout the entire year. Please contact Suzanne Hauerstein atshauerstein@towerhillbg.org for more information.
