The Northborough Library located at 34 Main Street will be hosting a Digital Preservation workshop on Wednesday, Nov. 2 from 7-8 p.m. in the meeting room.
What happens to our digital presence after we pass? How do we preserve it for future generations? How do we save email, Facebook postings, word documents, and pictures? In this workshop, archivist Rhonda Chadwich will cover the tools, tips and best practices for creating a digital legacy. Discussion topics covered include
- the best file formats for long term preservation
- how to save email, social media pages, websites, audio and video files
- digitizing old VHS tapes, papers, photographs and books
The workshop is the second of four planned workshops: The Basics of Archival Storage, Digital Preservation, Organizing your materials and Storytelling. Participants are not required to attend the whole series, but can pick and choose individual workshops.
