Northborough Helping Hands Association, Inc. (NHHA) is kicking off its Making Spirits Bright campaign to benefit Northborough families in need this holiday season. Holiday gift cards and monetary donations are being accepted through Monday, November 8.
The Holiday Outreach program was modified last year due to COVID-19 protocols. This year’s format will be similar as it was well received by all participants.
“The Senior Center provided the perfect space for social distancing and recipients enjoyed the drive-through stations, including coffee and a donut, gift cards, pies, turkeys and grocery bags with all the fixings,” said program coordinator Colleen Lupien.
Donations will be utilized to ensure that parents receive gift cards to purchase holiday gifts for their children. The gift cards will be distributed to parents with the traditional Thanksgiving meal. Gift cards to Target, Walmart, TJ Maxx/Marshalls in denominations of $25 or $50 are suggested, but any donation is appreciated.
You can make an easy online donation. Additionally, a check or gift card may be mailed to Northborough Helping Hands, Holiday Program, P.O. Box 383, Northborough, MA 01532.
In 2020, NHHA was able to provide gift cards and new coats to 136 children thanks to the generosity of the community, businesses, organizations and churches. Grocery cards were also distributed for Christmas to senior citizens and families in need.
This year, NHHA is planning to serve 130 households and is excited to have received a $3,000 grant from Fallon Health to help fund a portion of the grocery store gift cards.
Recipients of the Holiday Outreach programs are Northborough residents who are actively participating in an authorized social service program through the town.
NHHA is an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit and volunteer run organization, which has run the holiday program for over 25 years. Questions can be emailed to holidays@NorthboroughHelpingHands.org.
