Highlights from the Board of Selectmen’s 9/28 meeting

The Northborough Board of Selectmen meeting was held on September 28. Here’s some important information:

  • Kristin Black will start as the new Health Agent on Tuesday, October 13.
  • The Town Hall will resume its hours on Tuesday, October 13 (because Monday, October 12 is Columbus Day) as they were before the shutdown:  Mon., Wed., & Thurs. 8 am-4 pm, Tues. 8 am–7 pm, and Fri. 7 am-12 pm. The building is still not officially open to the public and residents can make in person appointments as needed.
  • VOTE in the Presidential Election. Early voting: Northborough Senior Center (119 Bearfoot Road) Saturday, October 17-Friday, October 30.  In-person voting: Tuesday, November 3 at Robert E. Melican Middle School (145 Lincoln Street) from 7 am-8 pm.
  • Halloween is still on (as of now), but residents are asked to use their judgement and common sense. Do what is comfortable for you in regards to handing out candy or trick or treating.
  • Have you noticed crazy traffic during St. Bernadette School’s drop off and pick up times? Selectman Leslie Rutan did and voiced her concerns. Not much can be done except extra police traffic enforcement.
  • Northborough’s Master Plan is now moving into the implementation phase and a 13 member committee is needed, which will include 6 citizens. Watch the town news on the website for information on how to apply if you are interested.
  • Fiscal Year 2022 budget is causing some concern. Tight budgets, tight surpluses, and less capital improvements were discussed.
  • Next meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 19 at 7 pm.

The entire meeting can be viewed on YouTube or read through the minutes of past meetings.
