The Town of Northborough offers residents an easy way to keep up to date on information. If you are not already signed up, you can do so online. You can specify which areas of information you would like to receive, such as meeting agendas, Senior Center news, or town alerts.

Here are some highlights of what you should know in the coming weeks:

TOWN ADMINISTRATOR

  • Long time Town Administrator John Coderre has been named the new town administrator in Foxborough. His last day in the Northborough position was April 7. The Select Board has named Bob Reed as the interim administrator as the search begins to fill the position permanently.

Residents are encouraged to meet with the search consultants to give input on what they would like to see from their next Town Administrator. Sessions are being held on Tuesday, April 18 at the Senior Center at 1 p.m. and at Town Hall in the Selectmen’s Meeting room on the second floor on Tuesday, April 18 from 4-7 p.m. You can also call 508-504-8803 on this date between 4-7 p.m. or email northborotasearch@mri.gov.

  • Volunteers are needed for the Town Administrator Screening Committee. This Committee will be charged with reviewing applicants for the Town Administrator position and provide recommendations to the Select Board for final interviews. The Committee will consist of one member of the Select Board, one member of the Planning Board, one member of the K-8 or Regional School Committee, one member of the Appropriations or Financial Planning Committee and three at-large town residents.  If you are a Northborough resident and have an interest in serving on this Committee, please complete the ONLINE APPLICATION and forward along with a letter of interest and/or resume to the Town Administrator at 63 Main Street, Northborough, MA 01532 or by email To townadmin@town.northborough.ma.us no later than Tuesday, April 25, 2023. 

TOWN HALL FEASIBILITY STUDY COMMITTEE APPLICATION PERIOD EXTENDED

  • The Interim Town Administrator has extended the application period for residents interested in serving on the Town Hall Feasibility Study Committee. Applications will be accepted through Friday, April 21, 2023.  Interested residents should submit a resume and brief statement of interest to townadmin@town.northborough.ma.us.

ANNUAL TOWN MEETING

  • Mark your calendars to be at the annual town meeting on Monday, April 24, starting at 6 p.m. at Algonquin Regional High School Auditorium.
  • Free Childcare will be available. The Northborough Southborough Public School District is pleased to announce that childcare will be available for Northborough’s Annual Town Meeting on Monday, April 24, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Registration for this free service is required. COMPLETE THE ONLINE REGISTRATION FORM. The service will be managed by a Northborough Extended Day Site Coordinator and supported by Algonquin student volunteers to help organize games and activities. Families are encouraged to feed their children before the meeting. Families should pack a snack and clothing for outdoor and indoor play.   • The 2023 Warrant Booklet is available for review and includes budget summary, financial planning and appropriations committee reports.
  • Learn what to expect at a town meeting with the state’s Citizen’s Guide to Town Meetings.
  • Town Meeting will be broadcast live on YouTube and on The Government Access Cable Channels, Charter 192 and Verizon 30. 

NEW NARCAN TRAINING SESSIONS AVAILABLE

The Town of Northborough and Be Well Northborough is offering free Narcan Training in May. The dates are Monday, May 15, 4:30-5 p.m. and Monday, May 15, 6-6:30 p.m. Both of these sessions will be held at the Northborough Library located at 23 Main Street. Online registration is required.

Narcan is the brand name of the generic naloxone and is a life-saving medication that can reverse an overdose from opioids – including heroin, fentanyl, and prescription medications – when given in time.

This Free Narcan training will provide participants with a brief training on how to recognize an opioid overdose, when and how to use Narcan, and a free kit to take home.
