Invasive Plant Pests from Beech to Basil

WHAT: Invasive Plant Pests from Beech to Basil
WHEN: Tuesday, April 2nd, 6:30 pm
WHERE: Northborough Historical Society, 52 Main St., Northborough, MA

The Northborough Garden Club invites you learn about the signs and symptoms of invasive pests in our gardens and community on Tuesday, April 2nd at 6:30 PM at the Northborough Historical Society.

Elizabeth Barnes, Forest Pest Outreach Coordinator with the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources, will speak about the spotted lanternfly, box tree moth, beech leaf disease, emerald ash borer, and Asian longhorned beetle. The presentation will cover how these pests affect plants, how to spot them, and what to do if you see one. Invasive insects are often right in front of our eyes but can go unnoticed until it is too late. These insects impact a wide range of forest and garden plants, from roses to birches, basil to grapes. With more invasive pests emerging each year, knowing how to spot them early can help save not just your plants, but the forests in your wider community as well.

Since 1925, the Northborough Garden Club strives to promote, encourage and foster an active interest in gardening, horticulture, beautification of the home and community, local civic projects and conservation.
