Please consult the library website for any updates or changes in programming or contact the Library directly at 508-393-5025 x4. SPECIAL PROGRAMS

  • Drag Story Time: Miss Rita, Mystery Reader. Saturday, June 11, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Celebrate Pride Month at the library! Local authors Kristen Wixted and Sam Donovan will read their new picture book Miss Rita, Mystery Reader. This heartwarming and relatable family story celebrates drag queens, reading, and self acceptance, teaching every kid to let their sparkle shine! The authors will be joined by drag queen Patty Bourrée, who will be singing a song she wrote based on her favorite part of the book. There will be capes, jewelry, glasses, and other dress up supplies available so everyone can join in on the fun! Space is limited and registration is required. Sam Donovan is a fashion designer who loves color, print, and texture. If you’re a fan of Project Runway, Sam’s name might be familiar to you—he was the runner-up on Project Runway: Under the Gunn, and took fourth place on season five of Project Runway: All Stars. He regularly designs clothes for drag performers, and hopes something he’s designed inspires you to smile. He lives in Massachusetts and has a cat named Ivy. Kristen Wixted writes picture books and middle grade novels. She’s the co-editor and general force behind the illustrated children’s poetry anthologies published by the Writers’ Loft Press including Friends and Anemones: Ocean Poems for Children. She is also an experienced Mystery Reader who lives in Northborough with her family, a dog named Scout, and two cats, Eliza and Beetle. In her spare time she is a member of the Northborough Select Board and enjoys watching her son play volleyball for the Algonquin Titans.
