Keep recycling your textiles in 2023!

Recycling your textiles using the Bay State Textiles collection bins permanently placed at all the Northborough and Southborough public schools is working. Not only is it saving the environment, but it is also raising funds for the school parent teacher organizations (PTOs). The individual school PTOs in Northborough and the Southborough Organization for Schools (SOS) benefit from the donations and receive monthly donations based on the weight of collections.

  • Total of textile pounds collected in 2022: 151,155 lbs., which translates to over $7,500 to the schools’ PTOs.

View the list of acceptable and unacceptable items to donate.  You now have a place for those single socks and stuffed animals!

Items must be clean and dry and placed in plastic bags. If the bins are full, please do not leave bags outside of the bin. Items are reused, repurposed and recycled. Please do not leaved other items, which are not recyclable through this program, on the ground near the bin.

The textile bins provide a means for textiles to be disposed and supports the November 1 state ban on disposal of textiles and efforts to reduce disposal statewide by 30% over the next decade.
