Library announces April programs for kids

The Northborough Library Children’s Department has announced it’s programming for April 2021. It’s full of virtual and socially distant in-person fun and will keep your kids entertained. Online registration is required for most programs and masks are required for all in-person events. Zoom links will be shared after registration is confirmed. Please consult the library website for any updates or changes in programming or contact the Library directly at 508-393-5025 x4.

TUESDAYS

  • April 6, 13: Preschool Explorers: Spring Session, 10-10:30 am via Zoom. Join Ms. Carly for a special Zoom story time designed for preschoolers to explore a STEAM related concept through stories, songs, and an activity or demonstration. Best suited for ages 4-5, although siblings and adults are welcome to join the fun. Registration required.
  • April 6, 13, 20, 27: Crafternoon Kits, 12 pm (outside the Children’s Room side door). Drop by the library every Tuesday afternoon to pick up the materials for a fun new art project. Kits are available to pick up from 12-6 pm on Tuesdays while supplies last.
  • April 13: PJ Storytime, 6:15-6:45 pm via Zoom. Get dressed in your pajama best and join Ms. Lindsay for a bedtime themed storytime. Bring your favorite stuffed animal and enjoy cozy stories to end the night right. Suited for families with children ages 2-6. Registration required.
  • April 20: STEAM MegaBytes via Zoom, 4:30-5:30 pm. Explore STEAM subjects with Ms. Lindsay. The program is designed for children in grades K-5. Children will learn about different STEAM aspects with hands-on activities. Registration required to receive supply information.

WEDNESDAYS

  • April 7, 14: Mother Goose on the Loose-Spring Session, 10-10:30 am via Zoom. A special story time for our littlest patrons. This is an early literacy program for children ages birth – 3 years. Come join us for a story, songs, rhymes, bouncing and fingerplays. Musical instruments, puppets, and other props to further children’s early learning skills will be used. Registration required. Archived records can be found on the Library’s YouTube page.
  • April 21: Garden Storytime, 1-1:45 pm (Outside the Library). Join the librarians for an outdoor storytime all about gardens. Take your own seeds home with you to plant. Limited space and registration required. Adults and children ages 2+ will be required to wear masks. The program will be postponed in the event of inclement weather.

THURSDAYS

  • April 1, 8, 15: Music Mashup: Spring Session, 10-10:30 am via Zoom. Designed for children ages 2-5 and their whole family. This program will explore movement through music, use instruments and other manipulatives and enjoy a story or two together. Registration required.
  • April 22: Outdoor Pop-Up Children’s Library, 12-3 pm (Outside the Library). Browse the pop-up library and bring your library card. Masks and social distancing required. The selection will include materials for ages 0-12 for families to browse one family at a time.  Gloves and hand sanitizer will be provided and signage will be posted to ensure social distancing. Don’t forget to walk around the library building to read the new story walk! Event will be postponed in the event of inclement weather.

FRIDAYS

  • April 2, 9, 16: Toddler Time: Spring Session, 10-10:30 am via Zoom. Age and developmentally appropriate stories, songs, movement activities and fingerplay will build your child’s early literacy skills. Geared for ages 2-3 with a favorite adult. Registration required. Archived recordings can be viewed on the Library’s YouTube page.
  • April 23: Take and Make Terrarium Necklace, 12 pm (Outside the Children’s Room Side Door). Stop by the library to pick up the materials you need to make your own terrarium necklace. You will plant chia seeds and watch them grow. Materials are limited and available on a first come, first served basis. Please note that the kit contains small pieces that could pose a choking hazard and a glass jar.

SATURDAYS

  • April 17: Outdoor Pop-Up Children’s Library, 9 am – 12 pm (Outside the Library). Browse the pop-up library and bring your library card. Masks and social distancing required. The selection will include materials for ages 0-12 for families to browse one family at a time.  Gloves and hand sanitizer will be provided and signage will be posted to ensure social distancing. Don’t forget to walk around the library building to read the new story walk! Event will be postponed in the event of inclement weather.
