Library Children’s Programs for May

The Northborough Library Children’s Department has announced it’s programming for May 2021. It’s full of virtual and socially distant in-person fun and will keep your kids entertained. Online registration is required for most programs and masks are required for all in-person events. Zoom links will be shared after registration is confirmed. Please consult the library website for any updates or changes in programming or contact the Library directly at 508-393-5025 x4.

TUESDAYS

  • May  11, 18, 25:  Crafternoon Kits, 12-6 pm. Outside the Children’s Room side door. Drop by the library every Tuesday afternoon to pick up the materials for a fun new art project. Kits available while supplies last.
  • May 11, 18: Preschool Explorers, 10-10:30 am via Zoom. Join Ms. Carly for a special Zoom story time designed for preschoolers to explore a STEAM related concept through stories, songs and an activity or demonstration. Best suited for ages 4-5, although siblings and grown ups are welcome to join the fun. Registration required.
  • May 11, 25: PJ Storytime on Zoom, 6:15-6:45 pm on Zoom. Get dressed in your pajama best and join Ms. Lindsay for a bedtime themed story time. Bring your favorite stuffed animal and enjoy cozy stories to end the night right. Suited for families with children ages 2-6. Registration required.
  • May 18: STEAM MegaBytes, 4:30-5:30 pm on Zoom. This program gives school-aged children a chance to learn about different STEAM aspects with hands-on activities. Registration required. Geared for children in grades K-5.
  • May 25: Outdoor Preschool Explorers, 9-9:30 am, outside the library. Special story time for preschoolers to explore a STEAM related concept. Designed for ages 4-5. Space is limited, registration is required.

WEDNESDAYS

  • May 12, 26: Mother Goose on the Loose, 10-10:30 am on Zoom. An early literacy program for children ages 0-3. Come join a story, songs, rhymes, bouncing and fingerplays. Musical instruments, puppets and other props to further children’s early learning skills will be used. Registration required. Visit the Library’s YouTube page for archived recordings.
  • May 19: Mother Goose Flies the Coop, 9-9:30 am, outside of the library. Designed for children ages 0-2. Join for story, songs, rhymes, bouncing, and fingerplays. Musical instruments, puppets, and other props to further children’s early learning skills will be used. Space is limited. Registration required and event will be postponed in the event of inclement weather.

THURSDAYS

  • May 13, 27: Music Mashup, 10-10:30 am on Zoom. Designed for ages 2-5 and their whole family. Children are invited to explore movement through music, use instruments and other manipulatives and enjoy a story or two together. Open to all families, but registration is required.
  • May 20: Outdoor Music Mashup, 9-9:30 am, Outside the Library.  For ages 2-5 and their whole family. Children are invited to explore movement through  music, use instruments and other manipulatives. Limited space, registration required. Event will be postponed in the event of inclement weather.
  • May 13, 27: Young Scientists with STEM Beginnings, 11:30 am-12:30 pm on Zoom. Children will learn STEM concepts through hands-on activities, story time and simple experiments. This is an interactive class using Zoom and parent/caregivers are encouraged to help their child ages 3-6. Class size is limited. A list of materials for families to prepare for each class will be provided weekly. This is a six week virtual series.

FRIDAYS

  • May 14, 21: Toddler Time, 10-10:30 am on Zoom. For children 2-3 years old with a favorite adult for age- and developmentally appropriate stories, songs movement activities and fingerplay to build your child’s early literacy skills. Registration required. Archived recordings can be found on Library’s YouTube page.
  • May 28: Outdoor Toddler Time, 9-9:30 am, outside of the library. Ages 2-3 with a favorite adult. Storytime filled with age- and developmentally- appropriate stories, songs, and movement activities and fingerplays to build your child’s early literacy skills. Space is limited, registration required.
