Library’s Time Capsule Sealing

Library’s Time Capsule Sealing
The year long celebration of the Northborough Library’s 150th anniversary would not be complete without a time capsule to mark the milestone.
The community is invited to be a part of the sealing of a time capsule on Tuesday, July 16 at 6:00 p.m. in the cafe located on the second floor of the library. The cafe is part of the original Gale Library Building that opened in 1895, thanks to the generosity of Cyrus Gale, Jr. and his family.
The contents of the capsule will include items representing the library’s history and the world in 2018, such as the 2018 Annual Town Report featuring the library on the cover; an iPhone; a photo of the exterior of the library as it appeared in 2018; promotional materials from the Library’s 150th Birthday Party and 150th Jubilee; a photo of the ribbon cutting for the new library building, which opened in 2009; a list of current Trustees, Friends and staff; a copy of the library’s Gale Forecast newsletter; photos of the Gale family, who were the main benefactors of the library; lists of bestselling books and DVDs that were popular in 2018; and magazines that capture the political, social and economic tenor of our times.
Local residents will be asked to place items in the time capsule as part of a formal “sealing ceremony.”
