Community A.C.T.S, Northboro Junior Woman’s Club and the Algonquin Regional High School Girl Up club are coming together to host a Period Palooza. The kits will be donated to the Northborough Public Schools, Library and the Food Pantry.
In a national survey of 1,000 menstruating teens, 1 in 5 struggled to afford period products and 4 in 5 either missed or knew someone who missed class time because they did not have access to period products.
Menstrual products are not covered by government assistance like Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).
Each kit will include a reusable pouch, organic or biodegradable pads and panty liners and organic cotton tampons to help a menstruator for a month. Fihri will equally divide the kits sponsored to the Northborough Schools, Northborough Food Pantry and the Northborough Library.
