The Northborough Senior Center is offering a free, four week Memory Training Course. This program is designed for people who wish to improve or maintain their memory ability. The goals of this course are to help participants develop good memory habits and to teach techniques to improve memory. The course is not intended for people with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease or other forms of dementia.
The course will be held on Wednesdays March 16, 23, 30 and April 6 from 1-4 p.m. Participants will be expected to make a four-week commitment to attend each class.
Research studies have shown that the strategies used in this course are effective in improving memory in older adults with normal, age- related memory challenges. The course targets the four most common memory concerns that people experience every day:
- Forgetting names and faces
- Forgetting to do things in the future (like keeping appointments, passing on a phone message, or forgetting why you walked into a room).
- Forgetting where you put things like keys, glasses, phone
- Knowing something that you can’t immediately recall
There is no cost for the course. Please call the Northborough Senior Center at 508-393-5035 to register by Friday, March 11.
