Come see Northborough’s first public native plant garden, the Watson Park Pollination Preservation Garden and Meadow, at 35A Lyman Street, Northborough, MA on July 15 from 10 AM to 11 AM.
Watson Park is owned by the town and spans 30 acres. The previously neglected land at the park’s entrance was re-purposed in June 2022 to be a native pollination preservation garden. It’s now home to 40 plants that support the local at-risk bee population. The plants were all propagated by the community using the Winter Sow method. In addition to the garden, the park also boasts a dock to Bartlett Pond and a bluestem meadow to its side.
During the tour, volunteers will describe how the site was prepared and talk about some of the challenges that come with the garden and the meadow. They will also demonstrate how the garden is watered without on-site water or electricity.
