Northboro Chiropractic Center is pleased to introduce Brian Strandberg, their August Patient of the Month. Here is Brian’s story, in his own words:
For most of my adult life I have dealt with intermittent lower back pain. My lower back would bother me after various activities such as shoveling, gardening, working on my car, and playing with my kids. Sometimes the pain would only last a short while and other times my back would bother me for several days. While experiencing back pain I would typically take some ibuprofen and just wait for my back to get better. This past January my lower back began to act up, and for several days I was in so much pain that I was having trouble walking. After several days of taking ibuprofen and seeing no end in sight for the pain, I decided to seek some professional help. This led me to Dr. Karen at the Northborough Chiropractic Center.
Following just my first visit and adjustment by Dr. Karen, the results were incredible. My lower back pain was significantly reduced and I was able to walk far more comfortably. After just a couple days of adjustments, my lower back pain was completely gone! Dr. Karen recommended I continue on a care plan to help get my back to a state where I wouldn’t be so prone to having lower back issues.
I continued to see Dr. Karen for treatment per my care plan and I have seen some absolutely amazing results! In April, my wife tasked me with tiling the bathroom floor in our house. This job required about 16 hours of labor, over two days, in which I was crouched over, on my hands and knees and constantly getting up and down from the floor. This activity would have normally wreaked havoc on my back. In the past, I would have had to stop after an hour or so to let my back rest and recover from the activity. To my surprise, I was able to complete the entire job without even thinking about my back. It wasn’t until I was done that I realized how well my back handled the activity. I had no back pain or tightness. This was truly remarkable to me!
I play organized adult softball once per week during the summer. After running around for an hour, swinging a bat, and occasionally diving or sliding, the toll on my body the next day was usually very apparent. My legs and back would be sore and stiff and I would typically walk around very gingerly. It would take a day or two to feel like myself again. My first game this summer was May 8th. I played this game like I normally would, mildly abusing my legs and back. I couldn’t believe it the next morning when I had absolutely no pain or stiffness in my legs or back. It was as if I hadn’t played the night before. I was astonished by this. I’ve been playing once a week since May 8thand I haven’t had even the slightest hint of pain of stiffness in my back or legs as a result.
The results I have experienced from chiropractic care have been very tangible. My body is so much more capable of handling the physical activities that I enjoy. I look forward to continuing my chiropractic journey with wellness care that will keep me experiencing life to the fullest, pain free!
