We have some news!
The Northborough Guide was initially founded as an offshoot of Northborough Local First — a wonderful organization started by some independent business owners in town. The goal was to create a resource for Northborough residents that would also provide an avenue for them to connect and support locally-owned businesses.
“I am excited to transfer ownership of the Guide to another indispensable Northborough resource—The Northborough Library,” says Marile Borden, creator and manager of the Northborough Guide. “I believe they are uniquely positioned to continue to fulfill the vision of the Guide, connecting all local constituents including residents, community organizations, town departments and our local business community.” The library will assume ownership of the Guide on July 1, 2023.
What does this mean for subscribers? Subscribers to the Northborough Guide newsletter will still receive a weekly digest of announcements. The Guide’s Facebook and Instagram pages will initially remain active, though the library hopes to combine these pages with the library accounts in the future. The Northborough Community Group on Facebook, which has been managed by the Northborough Guide, will now be managed by independent community members in order to preserve the intent of the group as an open forum.
Can I still submit announcements and events for my group? Yes! Community groups, local nonprofits, and local organizations are welcome to submit their events the same way they have in the past- by emailing news@northboroughguide.com.
Will you still support local businesses? Absolutely! We are excited to manage and update the Local Business Directory, and hope to keep distributing printed versions to residents. We will not be selling ad space or featured articles as of July 1, in order to stay in line with the library’s mission and purpose. However, we welcome feedback and suggestions from our local business owners on ways we can partner to support your work.
