The Vincent F. Picard Post 234 American Legion has announced it’s plan for the Northborough Memorial Day Remembrance ceremony and parade, which will be held on Monday, May 28.
Many community groups come together each year for the ceremonies that begin at the Civil War monument on Monroe Street and conclude at the Howard Street Cemetery.
The first ceremony will begin at 12 noon at the Civil War monument on Monroe St., near Avidia Bank with a welcome by Gerard Bourque on behalf of Vincent F. Picard Post 234. The ARHS Chamber Choir will perform and the Gettysburg Address will be read. The parade will step off at 12:15 pm and will stop along the route including at the World War II/Korean/Vietnam War Memorial and the First World War Monument.
The Howard Street Cemetery portion of the event will include the ARHS Marching Band performing the National Anthem, an invocation by Rice Memorial Baptist Church Pastor Stephen Georgeson, and several speakers representing the town.
Parade participants should muster at 11:30 am at the Civil War monument.
The town website shows both the Memorial Day Parade agenda and Parade Route.
Special thanks to Northborough’s veterans and those currently serving in uniform.
