The cost of post-secondary education has skyrocketed. High school seniors rely on the availability of scholarships to help them meet their educational goals.
The Northborough Scholarship Committee is asking for the community’s support for the town’s high school seniors. In 2022, a total of $1,800 in scholarship funds was awarded to five recipients in the Class of 2022: Brianna Boeckeler, Aislin Campbell, Erik Lin, Paulina Paradise, and Jason Subat.
The Scholarship Fund does not receive any money from the town budget; it relies solely on the generosity of the community. The number of scholarships and the amount awarded is decided annually by the Committee based on available funds.
There are three easy ways to contribute to the scholarship fund:
- Donate online.
- Donate by check. Mail or use the drop off box in the front of town hall: Town of Northborough -Scholarship Committee, 63 Main Street, Northborough, MA 01532
- Add your donation to your tax payment. The portion of the property tax bill, which you return with your payment, gives you the option to voluntarily donate to local funds, including the Scholarship Fund. Indicate the amount you would like to add to your tax payment.
The Northborough Scholarship Committee was established by the Board of Selectmen in 2001. It is currently comprised of six volunteer voting members, who are appointed to three-year terms by the Board of Selectmen. A representative from the school district is also invited to participate in a non-voting role.
The goal of the Committee is to recognize high school senior students, who reside in Northborough, and provide them with some financial assistance for their post-secondary education.
Consideration is given to the student’s academic standing, financial need, employment and community service experiences, school/extra curricular activities, letter of recommendation, and essay.
