Not Your Mother’s Yearbook Photo

Remember your High School Senior Portrait? The one with the bad hair, awkward pose and fake cloudy blue backdrop? Chances are you’ve dusted off that old yearbook once or twice in the past few years—maybe prior to a big reunion. And if you’re like most of us, you wince as you quickly blow past your own picture in favor of finding someone else’s to laugh at.

Fortunately for our kids, things have improved in the world of Senior Portraits. While the high school’s might lead you to believe that you are bound to the traditional, school-selected yearbook photographer, this is not in fact the case. In actuality, you have the choice of using any professional photographer for your child’s portrait—and the good ones will know how and where to submit the images on your behalf.

Since Senior Portraits, by nature, are capturing one of the most important times of a person’s life, Seniors should use the opportunity to really show the world who they are. Instead of being limited to a formal headshot photographed against a plain backdrop, Seniors now have the option of choosing unique indoor or outdoor locations that really capture their spirit. They can choose to be photographed with a favorite pet, an instrument or a piece of art. Today, Senior shoots can even incorporate hair and make-up sessions, wardrobe changes, venue changes and more. Local photographer, Susan Ogar of Susan Ogar Photography, says “Seniors really think about their portraits differently today than in the past. Because they are exposed to so much more visual media (Instagram! Selfies!), they now crave a more creative and personal Senior Portrait experience. We strive to create something personal and unique with each Senior we work with.”

Lucky for you, Northborough is home to a variety of talented photographers who have the skills and expertise to capture your Senior in a way that best reflects their individual personality—resulting in a portrait that you and your Senior will treasure for years and years (and years) to come.
