Regional Recycling and Reuse Event on March 30

A regional drive-through Recycling & Reuse Event returns to Grafton on Saturday, March 30 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University located at 200 Westboro Road in Grafton.

More than 400 cars from surrounding communities participated in the first event in January, and for the second event in March, latex and water-based paint is being added to the list of items being collected. The fee for the paint collection is $5 per car (cash only), up to six cans. All latex and water-based paint must be in its original, labeled container, in liquid form, never been frozen and no more than 10 years old.

Other new items being collected at the March 30 event include wood stove pellet bags (#4 only and must be clean and dry), used mascara wands (wash with Dawn dish detergent and dry as they are being donated to animal wildlife refuge centers), dried out colored markers, Sharpies, highlighters and dry erase markers.

Collection of old, unwanted small electronics, Styrofoam, used clothing and textiles, and new or like new craft and office supplies for recycling and reuse returns to the March 30 event. All towns are welcome to participate.

Fees (cash only) are as follows: small electronics (visit wecan-ma.org for list of items) $10 each; monitors and televisions $20 each.

Styrofoam is being collected at no charge (only #6 and white – no food containers or packaging peanuts and free of stickers and tape) and assorted clothing and textiles (clean, dry and odor-free) is being collected for three different groups.

For the Epilepsy Foundation and support of three local farmers markets, bring used clothing and textiles, shoes, purses, wallets, belts, sheets, curtains, pillows, table cloths (holes and rips okay).

For the Fresh Start Furniture Bank (label Fresh on the bag), bring like-new sheets, towels, blankets, comforters, pots, pans and cutlery (in good shape).

For the Cummings Veterinary Center at Tufts University and local animal shelters (label Animal on the bag), bring clean, old, worn sheets, towels and blankets. New or like-new craft and office supplies are being donated to The Great Exchange.

The event is hosted by WE CAN and the communities of Grafton, Northborough, Shrewsbury and Westborough, and is open to all surrounding communities. It will be held on the grounds of Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. No early birds, please. Volunteers welcome.
