The parking lot of Trinity Church on November 13 was filled with a lot of activity with 60 Boy Scouts, 80 Cub Scouts and 45 community members, including students representing all grades and members of the Northborough Junior Women’s Club. They were all dedicated to sorting the 13,000 food donations collected in the annual Scouting for Food event.
The all day effort ended with an historical high of items donated for the event. All donations will support the Northborough Food Pantry and local organizations which assist people in need.
This year, the event was coordinated by the all female Scouts BSA Troop 823 led by Naoko Conway. The success of the event is a collaboration of community support from volunteers to donors.
“Thank you to all who put their time and effort into this event to make a positive impact to the community,” said Conway.
Boy Scout Troops 1 and 101 assisted with printing of the flyers delivered to homes the previous week and Troop 101 provided lunch to all the volunteers.
