- The Bistro is celebrating its reopening on Tuesday, June 8 at 12 p.m. with a Chicken BBQ. This event requires a ticket purchase for $10. The Bistro will be open for lunch Monday-Thursday.
- A time capsule of letters and stories about life during the pandemic is being collected. Submit a story about hope, resilience, loneliness, learning new skills, forging new connections, finding silver linings and/or unexpected losses you’ve grieved during COVID-19. Deadline is Wednesday, June 30.
- The Dull Men’s Club meets on Wednesdays from 10-11 a.m. Celebrate the ordinary as you hang-out and chat about issues of great or little importance (no serious politics or religion subjects). They are not boring and not grumpy and anything but dull!
- A Medicare virtual fair event will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 3-7 p.m.. This is a free event for those new to Medicare, but online registration is required. Free, confidential counseling on all aspects of health insurance to anyone on Medicare is also available for free through SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Everyone..on Medicare). Appointments can be scheduled through the Senior Center. Other SHINE matters can be asked by calling 800-243-4626.
- The Town of Northborough has a Senior Tax Workoff for residents who qualify. This is provided under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 59 § 5K. Eligible seniors may reduce up to $1,000 on their real estate tax bills by working part-time for the Town of Northborough. For information, please call the Senior Center, 508-393-5035. Minimum qualifications include: Age 60 or older, income limit of $40,000 for single residents or $55,000 for married residents. There are no asset limits or residency requirements.
