The Northborough Helping Hands Association, Inc.(NHHA) Winter Gear Drive needs your help. Please consider sponsoring a child so they can receive a new coat.
NHHA has coordinated a coat drive for the past 11 years as a part of their Holiday Outreach Program. Each fall the group collects over 500 gently used or new coats and boots to allow families to shop for new winter gear when they pick up their turkeys.
Due to the impact of COVID-19 the NHHA has to make significant changes to the Holiday Outreach programs. This year, instead of donating gently used coats, we are looking for families to help us by sponsoring a child for a new coat.
When you sign up to sponsor, you will be matched with a local child in town and given the gender and size in order to shop. A coat is most needed, but boots, hats and mittens/gloves are also welcome. Now more than ever, children need to be able to get outside and enjoy the freedom of the outdoors, no matter what the temperature.
Recipients of the Holiday Outreach programs are Northborough residents, who are actively participating in an authorized social service program through the town. Last year 129 children and 224 adults received a “helping hand.”
If you would like to sponsor a child for a new coat, please contact Kerri Martinek at 617-851-1091 or email coats@ northboroughhelpinghands.org.
