Looking for something to do with your young kids during February school vacation week? Storytelling, poetry and crafts will be presented by the members of the Writer’s Loft at Tatnuck Bookseller, Gift Gallery and Cafe located in the Westborough Shopping Center in Westborough on Monday, February 18 from 1-3 p.m.
Northborough resident and author Kristen Wixted writes novels, poetry and picture books and will appear at this event along with other local authors who recently published An Assortment of Animals, an anthology of children’s animal poetry.
The poetry collection celebrates the joys of poetry and love of animals for children of all ages. From anteater to vulture, limerick to free verse, and watercolor to digital drawing, it is an all-encompassing introduction to a diverse variety of animals, poetry, and illustration techniques for readers and artists.
Undiscovered poets’ and illustrators’ work sits side by side with never-before-seen work of accomplished authors and artists like Jane Yolen, Josh Funk, and Brian Lies. Poetry is a compelling way for children to experience the art of storytelling through word and art. This anthology takes the reader on a journey from funny to poignant, wistful to thrilling, imaginative to realistic. Through over twenty authors and illustrators, discover new wonders in this joyous collection. Three seek-and-find activities included and makes this book a great addition for teachers, librarians, and families.
