Styrofoam recycling event

Styrofoam recycling event

In conjunction with the Town of Northborough’s Hazardous Waste Collection Day,  GFWC Northboro  Junior Woman’s Club (NJWC) will be holding a polystyrene/styrofoam collection. The collection will be held on Saturday, October 29 at the Northborough Town Garage, 190 Main Street from  9 a.m.-12 p.m. The following will be accepted, but please remove all labels and tape. The collection cannot include food containers and/or packing peanuts.

  • EPS – “Styrofoam” – any clean, white only, pre-formed packing block, or cooler.  It must have a #6 PS symbol on it.
  • EPE – “squishy foam” – white.  This foam is the spongy type, usually found protecting computer equipment.  Foam may have the #4 LDPE symbol.

The goal is to utilize the day to collect materials, which will be recycled instead of being dumped in a landfill.  NJWC will be also be partnering with Gold Circuit E-Cycling LLC as we continue to perform and support initiatives to help the environment. The residents of Northborough have been dedicated to this endeavor even during the height of COVID when this recycling event was put on hold. By continuing to save Styrofoam to be recycled, residents made last year’s collection an enormous success and resulted in almost two truckloads of Styrofoam being recycled.

If you would like more information or have questions about the project, please feel free to email NJWC at njwcenvironment@northborojuniors.org.
