Traffic concerns update

The Northborough Planning Board met on Dec. 16 and a short discussion on traffic concerns was part of the agenda. Additional information will be shared at the Board of Selectmen meeting scheduled for Monday, Dec. 21 at 7 pm.  The agenda for that meeting is posted on the town website.

Town Planner Kathy Joubert said there have been a lot of in-house discussions and that discussions have also been held with managers of the various businesses in the Bartlett Street industrial area. The Police Chief, Town Administrator and Department of Public Works Director have all been part of these discussions.

Although no timetable was shared, signs will be erected to direct truck traffic out of their driveways to lessen the impact of truck traffic through school and residential roads.

A noise study for Amazon will be conducted in two parts per Building Inspector Bob Frederico. The first part is done when everything is basically quiet and at rest; the second part is done when the facility is running at full operation. The second part of the study won’t be done for several months as Amazon is still hiring people and using only one of the two buildings at this point.
