The Community Meals program sponsored by Northborough Helping Hands Association, Inc., Northborough Food Pantry, and the Northboro Junior Woman’s Club continues to serve about 120 families each week. Donations and volunteers help assist these organizations to continue to help families in need and address food insecurity in Northborough and surrounding towns.
The entrée is made possible through partnerships with local restaurants, who provide a to-go meal for $5 each. Community members donate bottled water and desserts. The dinner is distributed on Wednesday evenings starting at 5 p.m. in a drive-thru format in the Trinity Church parking lot (23 Main Street).
The community meal program has been a drive-thru effort since June 2020 and has been consistent throughout the pandemic. It hopes to return to an indoor setting again in the future.
Please sign up online if you are interested in helping the effort. Cases of water and desserts (homemade or store bought) are needed. Volunteers to package the meals and distribute to cars are also needed each week.
The partnership with local restaurants relies on the financial support of the community. It costs around $600 each week.
Donate on line to help continue this effort through the winter and spring. Checks can also be mailed to NHHA, P.O. Box 383, Northborough, MA 01532 with “community meals” in the memo line.
