Ways to Support Local Business During Quarantine

The impact of CDC recommendations and new MA state regulations on any business is significant—but small, local businesses who rely on foot traffic or human interaction will be hit especially hard. Below are a few ways that you can continue to support local businesses while maintaining social distancing protocols. We will continue to update this post with new recommendations.   • GO ONLINE.
    Many local businesses have an online  presence. Here is a running list:

    The Core Connection is offering FREE virtual classes through the end of the month.  If you enjoy them, purchase a class pass to use in the future!
    Release Well Being Center is offering free yoga and fitness classes online and via Facebook Live.
  • BUY GIFT CERTIFICATES FOR USE AT A LATER DATE.
    Call ahead or order gift certificates online and have them delivered to you by mail, or do a quick pick-up during open hours.
    Sawyer’s Bowladrome is offering GCs. Contact them by clicking the “Get Quote” button on their website and let them know you are interested.

  • FOLLOW THEM ON SOCIAL MEDIA.
    Follow local businesses on Facebook / Instagram / YouTube, etc. and share their posts to help give them visibility. Many businesses are using this opportunity to share tips and ideas. Check out The Crafty Nest DIY on Facebook for fun craft ideas for the kiddos, or Club Z Tutoring of Northborough for online learning tips. Flaherty Physical Therapy is offering exercise tips and Open Circle Acupuncture is teaching useful acupuncture points. Susan Ogar Photography always shares beautiful portraits that will make you smile (and remind you when someone local has a birthday!).
  • WRITE REVIEWS.
    Now is a great time to take a few minutes to review your favorite local businesses on Google, Yelp, Facebook and right here on the Northborough Guide Business Directory!
  • ORDER FOOD AND ACTIVITIES TO-GO!
    Many businesses are offering accommodations so that you can pick up items to go. Give them a call to see what they can do for you.

    • PYOP Studio is creating “to-go” kits for pottery painting. Call with your item choice and your colors and they will prepare everything you need!
    • The Crafty Nest DIY is offering take-home kids craft kits. Click here to purchase. Pick up in Northborough Monday 3/23 from 9-11AM (orders must be placed by 3/20)
    • Main Street Pastries and More remains open, and will deliver goodies to local Seniors. They are also supporting local families in need with baked goods including muffins, pastries and breads.
    • Paired, Poured and Plated is offering curbside pickup! Call to order wine ? cheese ? beer ?charcuterie and everything you need for some cozy time at home.

  • VISIT WELLNESS PRACTITIONERS.
    Many practitioners in Northborough who are taking extra precautions to stay open and keep you healthy:

  • SUPPORT BUSINESSES THAT ARE STAYING OPEN TO MEET YOUR NEEDS
    • (CLOSED AS OF 3/21.) Allure Hair Spa is currently open, taking special precautions — including solo appointments if you’d like to be the only one in the salon.
    • Davidian’s Farm is well stocked with essentials (including toilet paper and rubber gloves!). They are asking you to keep reusable shopping bags at home, and wear gloves when you shop. Great way to support local business, get healthy, local foods, and reduce risk of exposure!
    • (CLOSED AS OF 3/24.) Innovations Hair Salon also remains open. (Remember, these employees do not have the choice to “work from home.”)
    • Lowe’s Meat and Variety continues to be open to meet your grocery needs.
    • Browns TV and Appliance is open with updated hours: Monday – Saturday 10a-4pm. Sunday Closed.
  • SCHEDULE FUTURE APPOINTMENTS
    Get appointments on the books for weeks or months down the road. They can always be cancelled if need be — but it let’s the business know they have your support and helps them plan ahea

    • Heart and Stone Jewelry is booking April Thumbprint Appointments in preparation for Mother’s Day gifts. There is no fee to book online.
