Youth Softball Umpire Training Clinic

The Softball Minors Division (10U) is looking for youth umpires to call the games for the Spring 2019 Softball season. There will be games in Northborough, Southborough and surrounding towns.

Northborough-Southborough Girls Softball and NBSA is working in partnership with Certified ASA Umpire of Central Mass ASA Peter Travis to offer an umpire training program for people ages 12-18.

What you will learn in these clinics?
1. Rules of Softball
2. Plate Mechanics
3. Field Mechanics
4. Game Management
5. How to Handle Coaches and Fans
6. Proper Dress and Umpire Attire

Who should attend this clinic? New umpires, softball players, baseball players, ex-ball players and previous youth umpires. This program is open for both males and females ages 12-18 from Northborough and Southborough and surrounding towns.

All youths interested in umpiring during the upcoming 2019 season must attend the training session. There is no cost for this clinic and you will be paid for every game you umpire. Protective equipment will be provided by the league.

The required indoor training will be held at Melican Middle School Gym on Saturday, April 6, 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.
