Questions about COVID vaccine and where to signup

The Town of Northborough Health Department has released some additional information (dated Jan. 30) for residents regarding the COVID Vaccine and where to signup to receive the vaccine.

  • Who can get the vaccine?
The Town is subject to, and aligned with, the State Department of Public Health’s statewide plan for vaccination. Effective Monday, February 1st, seniors 75 and older can be vaccinated.  Additionally, anyone categorized under Phase 1 of the vaccination plan is currently eligible.  Click here to learn where you will fit into the COVID-19 vaccine distribution timeline.
  • Is Northborough running a COVID-19 vaccine clinic and how do I schedule an appointment?
Yes, Northborough will be running a COVID-19 vaccine clinic at the Senior Center.  Registration is not yet open so please stay tuned for more information (and consider registering to receive notifications below).  Plans are in place and state approvals have been obtained; however, vaccine is very limited, and we have not yet received our allotment. Currently, the state is only awarding 100 Moderna doses/week to local clinics due to shortages.  If you are able to receive your vaccine sooner at another location, please do so. We would like our community members to receive vaccine ASAP!
  • Residents are encouraged to look for online appointments (see below), work with their primary care provider to be vaccinated or signup for notifications (see below).  For those that struggle with the online process, family and friends may complete the registration for you.  Also, staff at the Senior Center (508-393-5035) are available to assist residents 75+ if technology is an issue.
  • Where can I go for the vaccine?
Sites are opening every day.  For example, this week, Wegman’s Pharmacy in town was announced as a vaccination site.  But please note that appointments at local pharmacies are very limited, are open to all communities and can only accommodate a handful of individuals per hour.  The sites with the most available appointments are the Mass Vaccination sites currently located in Springfield, Danvers, Foxborough and Boston.  These sites are shown on the statewide vaccination map as red stars and some offer over 1,000 appointments per day.  Marlborough Hospital in contrast is running a small clinic and appointments are very difficult to come by.

All vaccination sites require appointments.  Some clinics (like ours at the Senior Center) will be limited to residents.  An interactive map is available. You can click on the icons on the map to learn about the site, who they accept and how to register.  You must click on each individual site to view available appointments.

  • How will I know when appointments are available and how to register?
We are encouraging all residents and employees in town who want the vaccine to register online for our email notifications.  This form allows you to select which notifications you want to receive.  For example, if I am interested in the vaccine for myself, my children and my 80+ year old Grandmother, I can sign-up and select the 75+ email list, the Phase 3 General Public list and the Phase 3 Children (under age 18) list.  Emails will be sent to appropriate groups to inform them when they are eligible, where to register and timely information to help them secure an appointment as soon as possible at our clinic and others in our area.  If people aren’t sure if they registered, they can simply register again at www.tinyurl.com/NBvaccine

Please note the above signup form is for notification emails NOT appointments.  Appointments will need to be scheduled separately.

Additional information is posted on the town’s dedicated Covid-19 webpage.
